The Prevent Premature Fatherhood program focuses on the prevention of premature fathering and drives home the message of the importance of reaching young boys and their parents prior to fatherhood. Teen Pregnancy Prevention has been synonymous to most teens and parents with teen female education and responsibility. Programs with a message of prevention targeted mainly to young teen boys have not been completely explored, or developed.
The Prevent Premature Fatherhood program expands current pregnancy preventative programming for teens and establishes direct prevention services geared to teen boys ages 12-17 and their parents in four communities: the Hough neighborhood in the City of Cleveland, the City of Euclid, the Broadway-Miles neighborhood in the City of Cleveland and the Clark-Fulton neighborhood in the City of Cleveland.
Specifically, 6 after-school or weekend events will be offered in each of the four targeted communities with Prevent Premature Fathehood programming wrapped into each event. Events will include movie nights, radio station remotes, bowling, sporting events, and open mic's. Food will always be included for teen boys and families.
